In case you're wondering, this whole cooking/baking thing is fairly new to me.
It began in 2005 while I was on maternity leave with my youngest. Rachael Ray began her show during that time. While I stayed home, I watched her show. And she did things so easily...and with less-than-perfect measuring technique...I started to get inspired to get in the kitchen.
At this point, I had newly figured out how to make spaghetti/pasta & tacos. That was it. Up until that time, my hubby did all the cooking or I considered it "cooking" if I did it in the microwave. I'm really not kidding. You can even ask my hubby.
So, even though Rach inspired me to get back into the kitchen...it still wasn't great.
My cooking & baking actually really took off in 2010 when I was inspired to make Slushie Cupcakes (MY INSPIRED CUPCAKES FROM GLEE). I began to figure out more cupcakes from there, then more baking, then onto finding recipes & things to actually cook...beyond just pasta or tacos.
I have since discovered Pinterest. The inspiration & recipes I have found here has sent me on a firestorm of food!
Holidays are something I really get into. I mean REALLY get into!! REALLY! This includes the food & any feasting! With my developing enjoyment of cooking, I try to keep it going with holiday-type touches. Sometimes...we find new staples for our family menus.
Now then...I am in no way, shape, or form a 50's housewife type...cooking, baking & whatever else from scratch. NO WAY! The fact I've even gotten to this point makes my parents shake their heads. Trust me, it's a shocker. However, I don't necessarily do things from scratch. I enjoy messing with mixes, kits, my lazy cooker & cheater/fake out meals & recipes. I've even been adapting & writing my own, too. It's weird to think about...
So, I am a total homefaker! And thanks to Rachael Ray, Glee & Pinterest...I can now fake it 'til I make it!
And if I can do it...you can do it!
So, let's step into my pantry & let's fix something up...and let's eat it up!
ENJOY!
